Morten Schantz ist ein international gefragter Pianist, Sänger, Komponist und Produzent aus Dänemark / Kopenhagen.
Im Doubletime war er bereits mehrfach mit der Duo-Formation RKDIA (Morten Schantz/Anton Eger) sowie vor drei Jahren mit seinem fantastischen Trio.
Bei der fließenden, melodischen und gleichzeitig rhythmisch wie harmonisch spannenden Jazz-Musik von Morten Schantz entstehen sofort Bilder, teils gibt es Anleihen zur Film-Musik, teils zum Pop, vor Allem aber ist er im Jazz, Groove und Funk zu Hause.
In seiner Residenz wird er in völlig unterschiedlichen Formationen sine unglaubliche Bandbreite zeigen.
Für Mitglieder wird es Sonder-Konditionen geben! Wir würden uns sehr freuen wenn wir gemeinsam Morten Schantz und seine spannende Musik sowie seine hochkarätigen Bands feiern!

MORTEN SCHANTZ TRIO
20 years of musical trust – and new music on the way
In 2026, Morten Schantz Trio celebrates 20 years together – a rare milestone for a modern jazz trio, and one that can be heard in every phrase.
Few constellations keep evolving with the same personnel, the same curiosity and the same sense of risk for two decades. Morten Schantz Trio has done exactly that. The group moves lightly and elegantly through shifting soundscapes: melodic, open, rhythmically alive – always in motion, never standing still.
The trio’s long shared history gives the music a special kind of freedom. The communication is immediate, elastic and deeply intuitive, but the band never leans on routine. Instead, Morten Schantz, Morten Ankarfeldt and Janus Templeton continue to search for new routes through composition, improvisation and
form.
So far, the trio has released three strikingly different albums. The debut album Conveyance, recorded in New York City in 2010, brought together an original blend of more or less familiar songs by artists such as Peter Gabriel, U2 and Jeff Buckley, jazz standards and Schantz’s own compositions – all given a coherent expression through the trio’s attentive, transparent interplay.
In 2014 came Unicorn, a West African-inspired album filled with the heat of the Sahara, the pulse of West African medinas and a sense of Middle Eastern mystery. Passenger followed in 2022: an ode to the young traveller, exploring different geographical places and states of movement, and earning both critical acclaim and a Danish Music Award nomination.
In 2026 the trio will record a new album – the follow-up to Passenger. Concerts in Hameln this autumn will therefore combine music from the trio’s three album releases with a strong emphasis on brand-new compositions, premiered live before the upcoming studio recording. What will the next journey bring?
