Morten Schantz ist ein international gefragter Pianist, Sänger, Komponist und Produzent aus Dänemark / Kopenhagen.
Im Doubletime war er bereits mehrfach mit der Duo-Formation RKDIA (Morten Schantz/Anton Eger) sowie vor drei Jahren mit seinem fantastischen Trio.
Bei der fließenden, melodischen und gleichzeitig rhythmisch wie harmonisch spannenden Jazz-Musik von Morten Schantz entstehen sofort Bilder, teils gibt es Anleihen zur Film-Musik, teils zum Pop, vor Allem aber ist er im Jazz, Groove und Funk zu Hause.
In seiner Residenz wird er in völlig unterschiedlichen Formationen sine unglaubliche Bandbreite zeigen.

albums in the mid-2000s, disappeared for years at a time, and returns only on rare occasions.
Led by keyboardist and composer Morten Schantz, the band released its self-titled debut in 2004 – an
underground favourite in Japan – followed by Return From Exile in 2006, a vibrant tribute to 1970s jazz-funk
and the electric universe of Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters.
For the Doubletime Jazz Residency, Schantz Segment returns in its original line-up, featuring some of the
strongest profiles from the Danish music scene alongside Ghanaian percussion master Ayi Solomon – a
musical wizard whose presence has to be experienced live.
When the sextet enters the stage, Doubletime Jazz will be transformed into a vibrating club space where
analogue keyboards, electric bass, horns, guitar, percussion and deep grooves merge into one big electronic
time machine.
And in Hameln, of course, one cannot avoid the legend of the Pied Piper. This time, however, Schantz
Segment will lure the grown-ups into the night with funky tones, hypnotic rhythms and a benevolent kind of
musical magic.
